St. Matthias’ Episcopal Church
Minocqua, Wisconsin
A church built in the early 1900’s was looking to add 9,300 square feet of new worship space, kitchen, classrooms and a remodel of the Parish Hall. Initial budgets were coming in too high. SMC was able to value engineer the project to bring it within budget. There were many features of the building that were extremely important to the congregation. The exterior stone had to match the original church and after a lengthy search an exact match was located at a quarry in the Wausau area. With careful planning, the tallest Pine Tree on the island of Minocqua was able to be saved, even though work was within inches of the root system. SMC was also able to overcome tight working conditions on all sides of the lot; one side of the project was within 10 feet of a major US Highway.
“All aspects of this project were handled with great professionalism, care, attention to detail and responsiveness to our needs, budget and timetable.” – Fr. Edgar Wallace
